The Pines at Genesee is a wedding venue that is close to Denver but still has a mountain feel which makes for a perfect compromise between convenience and ” Colorado”! There was still snow on the ground and the leaves hadn’t budded out on the trees for Christina and Jeff’s late April wedding but the time of day they choose for their ceremony was IDEAL for that late afternoon, just before sunset “golden light” – a photographers dream! Jenna and Jason are exactly the perfect type of couple for our photography style. They are fun, laid back, adventurous, dog lovers, who share in our sense of humor and tendency toward adorable-but-dangerous-wild-animal nicknames for their significant others. Lauren Brimhall Photography has a history of planning and participating in some relatively dark/off-beat styled wedding shoots. This translates to dramatic lighting, editorial posing, and often the juxtaposition of a beautiful bride and a deliberately rundown, about-to-be-demolished-type location. With our past styled shoots, including Alice in Wonderland and Princess Bride, we’ve served as both planner and photographer, but when Season Hurd, Editor of A Colorado Courtship blog came to us with the idea for a Post-Apocalyptic Styled Wedding Shoot, we thought it was a perfect fit. Season REALLY ended up taking this thing to the next level, and as we began to see all the details in her planning unfold, we became more and more excited for what was to come!

Mile Station Wedding Photography|Elegant Images

Megan and Sam got married this past summer at Mile High Station. It’s the coolest Denver urban wedding venue that I have seen. Megan & Sam decided to see each other before the ceremony to have their wedding portraits done. This way they could spend all of cocktail hour with their guests. Sam recently became an author and had his first children’s book published called “The Ranch Race”. I even got a signed copy of it from him. My kids love the book too, so if you have kids, go to the website and order this book.

The sad part of our job is when we get a call from a crying bride. It happens a lot more than you would think. They were shown a few nice images a friend, a family member or a amateur photographer that sold her on the fact they could shoot her wedding. I wanted to share a few images from a wedding reshoot we did. Winter snow engagement photos|Elegant Images

Elegant Images photographed Cheryl and Dan’s Winter snow engagement session recently up in Evergreen. Cheryl wanted snow for her engagement session and lucky for us, that week we got a lot of snow. The one thing we didn’t count on is the high winds in the mountains and blowing snow everywhere. Plus since we received so much snow some of the trails were fresh and deep with snow which was very hard to get through. Cheryl and Dan were awesome about it, loved it and embraced it for their session. We all had a blast during their session

Cheryl and Dan will be having their wedding at the wonderful Lionscrest Manor this summer.

Infrared Bridal Photography – Mark Hayes Photography

Sure wedding photojournalism, story telling, strong black and white, even breaking out the film from time to time might sum up most of my wedding photography, but every once in a while Denver Wedding Photographer / Wedding Photojournalist Mark Hayes like get play outside of that box a bit.

Using a modified camera that now only captures reflected IR, or infra red light, produces some stark and striking B&W images on a wedding day. But left in color mode, with a few custom in camera tweaks and something different begins to take shape. After doing a series of fine art “blue shift” infrared images former bride Daliana volunteered to bring out her wedding dress and shoot a few things with the IR camera. The “blue” is purely an in camera effect from the infrared filter and the cameras tweaked out settings – this is pretty much a straight out of camera image and not a photoshop effect.
