Lauren Brimhall Photography unveiled our second major movie-themed wedding shoot yesterday! A stark contrast to the original Alice In Wonderland Engagement – the Tim Burton Version, which was somewhat dark, this year’s star film was Disney’s The Princess Bride! The photos are a bright, colorful collection that our team is extremely proud of.

Breckenridge Wedding by Kokoro Photography

Teresa and Jaryd had a very private, intimate ceremony in Breckenridge this February. Maybe 20 people total surrounded them with love as they said their vows on the deck of a private home they rented for the weekend. A beautiful mix of his Hawaiian traditions and their love of the Colorado mountains in the winter combined throughout their ceremony. We realized that even though your ceremony is small you don’t need to forgo those meaning details. Teresa ordered custom cuff links from Etsy for Jaryd and a garter with something old, new, borrowed and blue all in one design for herself.

Because the photography was so important to them they planned two hours for just photos of the two of them, allowing us time to drive over to Silverthorn to the Ice Castle. These huge ice sculptures made for an amazing and unique backdrop!

Brown Palace and Holy Trinity Denver

We have shot many weddings at these two venues over the years. Both the Brown Palace and Holy Trinity have a lot of history and character. Scott and Jo were a great couple to work with. We even did a Bridal Portrait Session with Jo and you can see the second part here. We also did their engagement session at the Brown Palace in the Roosevelt room, named after the President who stayed there.

It was Christmas time at the Brown Palace and if you have never seen it with all of the decorations you owe it to yourself. You can see how beautiful it is in the pictures. The Brown Palace is a beautiful place to have a wedding.

Denver Engagement Portraits | Elegant Images

With the popularity of Pinterest and all things photography, brides & grooms are now coming to us with their inspiration for engagement sessions. It could be a style session, certain look or pose, or just a couple of props to add some flair to their engagement portraits. This is what Danielle and Adam decided to do for their session. They brought some balloons, champagne glasses, and a two seater bike. Loved hanging out with this couple as we ran around the stress of Denver for some fabulous Denver engagement portraits.

Kammi and I..aka..Elegant Images are super stoked for their June wedding. They are having their wedding at the recently renovated Highlands Ranch Mansion. What a beautiful venue to have your wedding at. I was blown away by the look of this venue. There is nothing like it in Colorado and as a photographer I am drooling over the possibilities to photograph on their wedding day. Lionscrest Manor Wedding Photography

The 2012 wedding season has officially begun and Kammi and I of Elegant Images are so excited. I love all our couples and locations that we will be photographing this year. I am also excited because we finally go our two new cameras that we ordered on February 7th. Nikon has hit is out of the park with this 36 MP camera. The D800 is specifically made for portrait and wedding photographers. I actually received the cameras the day of Jenny & Brian’s Lionscrest wedding. I only took about 100 shots with the camera to test it out at their wedding. The camera is incredible and I am ready to roll it out for all the future weddings we have.

Jenny & Brian got married and the beautiful Lionscrest Manor this past Friday. We experienced some strong winds during the day so the ceremony was pulled inside. The wind died down enough after the ceremony to get some portraits of our newlyweds. Here are a couple of images from their wedding. Rustic Colorado engagement session

This is my favorite time of year. Spring is here and everything is green. It is also when we do most of our engagement sessions for our summer and fall wedding couples. This is a great time for the photographer to get to know their couple during the session. Gywnn is active on the ever addicting Pinterest and had made her wedding and engagement boards. For her engagement session she wanted something rustic with barns, meadows and greenery. I suggested the perfect spot for the session and we had a great time. Winter Wedding Wonderland

It was a “Winter Wedding Wonderland” try saying that a few times fast. Robert and Megan had a beautiful wedding at Arrowhead Golf Course. The weather was mystical with no snow until the end and a beautiful mist that made for some really interesting imagery. I loved the brides wedding dress it was so fitting for the occasion. Chatfield Farm Engagement: Shannon & Jon

Shannon, Jon and I went into Friday’s engagement session fully expecting to be dealing with that yucky in-between season (Not Winter but Not Yet Spring) when we were pleasantly surprised by warm weather and early blooming tree blossoms!

The session took place at the Chatfield Botanical Gardens, and in spite of some extremely heavy winds and the slightly earlier hour, I couldn’t have asked for a more fun couple and a better collection of photos as a result! Just wanted to share a few of my favorites!

Vendor Spotlight ~ Bella Event Design & Planning

Emily Campbell at Bella rocks my world every time I work with her! She creates beautiful events that are perfectly timed, run smoothly and where everyone is happy and having fun. She is a pleasure to work with not only for her “grace under pressure” but her lovely, down to earth personality. My favorite memory of working with Emily is the year we were both pregnant with our first baby -there were a couple of weddings where the coordinator and photographer were both very much with child! Here is a recent conversation I had with Emily -

How long have you been a wedding coordinator?
I started out doing international events in 1997, and I opened up my own wedding
planning business in 2002.
What got you started and what keeps you in the wedding biz?
My boss at the time asked me to be her “tour director” for her wedding. This was
in 1998 when people didn’t really have wedding planners. I thought it was a
wonderful experience and eventually branched out plan weddings full time.
I truly have the best job! There are certainly moments of stress with this job just
like with all others, but to spend my days doing something I am passionate about
and really love doing is a gift. I enjoy meeting each couple, getting a feel for their
own personal style, and working with them to make their day as unique and
personal as possible.
Is there one particular wedding that really stands out for you – good or bad?
One couple I worked with met on a chair lift and wanted to incorporate that into
their day in some way. They decided to take a run on their snowboards
immediately following their wedding ceremony on top of Keystone Mountain. The
bride had a special, custom bustle sewn into her silk ball gown to have it short
enough to not interfere with her boots and board. Her mother even took the time
to put white over all of the green stitching on her snowboard boots to make them
“bridal.” It was such an exciting moment to have them skiing off to the sounds of
their loved ones cheering them on. . . and I followed behind on my skis to tend to
the bride and groom. It was magical.
What do you like to do when you aren’t planning weddings?
I love spending time with my husband and two beautiful children. I also love
camping, trail running, back-country skiing and reading a good fashion magazine
or shopping all day with my girlfriends.
I know you are a huge asset at a wedding, how do you explain all that you do to a
new client?
Since every bride is so different, the approach with each one is just as unique –
some brides want total control of everything but need someone to execute the little
details and manage the vendors. In that case, a good vendor recommendation list,
thorough timeline and checklist are paramount to a successful wedding. Others
want help with everything so we have a resident stylist to go to dress fittings and
shoe shopping, inspiration boards to house all of the style elements for the
wedding, an in-house invitation studio for all of the paper products, and an interior
designer to render beautiful drawings of the bride’s vision for the space. We can
literally take every detail of a wedding from start to finish and make sure the
couple’s personality shines through on all levels.
What has been your biggest challenge at a wedding and how did you overcome it?
I do many mountain weddings, which presents unique challenges. Carrying the
guest book and escort cards up two gondolas across the snow, or trying to get a
wedding cake up to a mountain cabin via a bumpy snowcat ride can make for an
interesting set up.
Any new trends we should be aware of in weddings this year?
I think unique and fabulous invitations are at the top of my list. Classic, ecru
letterpress invitations are not the only option any more. One of the best designs
I’ve used is a piece of engraved aspen wood veneer with a custom metallic
envelope liner and opaque ink hand calligraphied address.
What is your best wedding planning advice?
Try not to take on too much during the wedding weekend. The time with your
family and friends will be so precious, you won’t want to spend it setting favors at
the reception venue. Also, take at least two or three moments during the day to
truly reflect on what is happening around you. The day will fly by in an instant so
take these moments to really appreciate the love you feel and how wonderful the
day is.
